Ghana Swim League’s Latest Meet Draws in Record Attendance

The Ghana Swim League recently held its highly anticipated meet (Meet 4) on Saturday, 11th March 2023 at the Ghana Armed Forces sports complex, and it was a roaring success, with record attendance from both participants and spectators alike with 9 participating teams from across the country and 216 athletes registering to compete – the highest participation rate so far. The League was especially excited to welcome a new team, Lincoln Community School (LCS), whose vibrant energy added to the excitement of the event.

The meet featured a range of exciting events, from middle-distance to sprint events, and showcased the incredible talent and athleticism of Ghana’s up-and-coming swimming stars. Spectators were treated to a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship, as the swimmers battled it out in the pool, with the crowd cheering them on every step of the way.

One of the highlights of the meet was the junior division, which saw a number of young swimmers competing for the first time. It was heart-warming to see the enthusiasm and determination on display, as these young athletes took to the water and gave it their all. It’s clear that the future of Ghana’s swimming scene is bright, with so many talented young swimmers emerging onto the scene. In fact, many of the first-time competitors swam times comparable to the BB Minimum times of the USASwimming National Age group Motivational times, showing great potential for future success.

Some of the standout Ghanaian performers from the event include Michael Arthur Crabbe-mann and Kelvin Abdallah, both 13-year-olds of Marlins swim team and GHDolphins swim team, respectively. Other promising talents to watch out for include Roxanne Lash of Dolphin Swim Center, Nhyira Richardson of Alraad Swim School, Jonathan Boamah, Ewurama Donkor of Marlins, Mercedes Abdallah, Oduma Agyei of GHDolphins, and Kelvin Kwao of Tema Seals.

“We are committed to promoting the sport of swimming across the country, and events like this one help to showcase the incredible talent and dedication of our athletes. We’re proud to be able to host events like this, which bring communities together and inspire young people to pursue their dreams, both in and out of the pool” said a board member of the Ghana Swim League.

We are thrilled to announce that the next meet will take place on April 15th, 2023, and we invite individuals and companies to get in contact on how to support or sponsor the league. With your help, we can continue to nurture these future swimming stars and improve the quality of life for families across Ghana.

The Ghana Swim League would like to extend a special thanks to Sync Audio for sponsoring the event with sound and P.A. system, as well as Radio Windybay, Metro TV, and GTV for providing media coverage.
